Introduction
In 2004, the partnership between Bike Revolution and Steintrikes began. Until then, Steintrikes had only built a handful of frames. In order to improve the quality and the technology, Thomas Seide, from Bike Revolution, and Viktor Horvatski took over the whole Steintrike production.
From this point on, Thomas Seide developed the prototypes into a product for mass production. Our aim was to produce a modular version, so that the customer could, for example, convert a two wheeler with a central frame into a three wheeler. We redesigned the Nomad, Magnum Tandem, Roadshark and Alien and developed our recumbent two wheeler. The Speedster and Speedster fs are low racers and suitable for touring as well as racing.
Thereafter Thomas Seide designed his first, fully sprung recumbent three wheeler: the Mad Max. We chose the best suspension system in motor sport: double wishbones. Only with this design can you get 100% control of the wheel camber angle, sensitive response behaviour, an extremely long spring extension and a unique turning circle. In combination with the front axle’s elaborate tubular construction, we became the top name for fully sprung trikes. We currently offer three different three wheelers with full suspension: the Mad Max, the Mungo and the Explorer. Just one year later, we had already developed the Thunderstorm velomobile, based on the Mad Max. With full suspension and a narrow track width, the TS is one of the most manoeuvrable and comfortable velomobiles on the market.
Furthermore, we were awarded the licence to build the Leitra. With our redesign came the Leitra Avancee, the successor to the Leitra Sport.
We are the only recumbent bike manufacturer which manufactures its products exclusively in Europe: the depth of our involvement in production is unique: it ranges from engineering, design, welding, turning the return pulleys and plain bearings, powder coating with our own powder coating equipment, right up to the final assembly and sales of the recumbent bikes. Furthermore, we have a high-quality GRP lamination system. As a result, our velomobile fairings are amongst the lightest on the market, e.g. Leitra Avancee with a weight of only 9kg.
Our team consists of 12 employees in Production, 2 employees in GRP Production and 3 employees who are responsible for the final assembly and sales.
As well as our own Steinbikes brand, we offer recumbent bikes from well-known European manufacturers, such as HPVelotechnik, Hasebikes, ZoxBikes, Flux, Velokraft and KMX. Our product range is extremely varied and includes children’s trikes up to carbon racing machines. Come and test ride an unusual trike or any other special bike we have.
